Calling all Fishermen!
Applications being accepted for the 2015 Marine Resource Education Program Southeast!
Applications are due March 10, 2015.
What is the Marine Resource Education Program Southeast (MREP)?
A unique educational experience, designed for fishermen, by fishermen.
Fishermen who want to learn more about the federal fishery science and management processes used in the Gulf of Mexico, South Atlantic, and Caribbean fishery regions, are encouraged to sign up to attend the Marine Resource Education Program workshops, now being offered specifically for the Southeast fisheries region. This is a great opportunity for fishermen, scientists and managers to learn from each other. Program participants have a chance to network, and build their own understanding of federal fishery science and management through a tailored educational experience.
Accepted participants will have the chance to attend two workshops in 2015:
- Fishery Science Workshop: April 14-16, 2015 in St. Petersburg, FL
- Fishery Management Workshop: September 22-24, 2015 in Tampa, FL
An application is required, and can be found online: www.gmri.org/mrepsoutheast
Applications will be reviewed in early March 2015. Selected fishermen will be notified by phone and mail. Meals and accommodations are provided during the workshops, and travel support is also available to qualifying active fishermen.
