June Council Meeting – What’s On the Agenda?

Want to know what’s going on with Red Snapper in the South Atlantic? Concerned about limited entry for the for-hire sector? Interested in the implications of an emergency action for cobia? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might want to learn more about our upcoming Council Meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (June 12-16, 2017). Council members will be discussing all of these issues at length.

If you answered no to all of the questions above, the upcoming meeting might still host some topics of interest to you. The Council will cover all kinds of fisheries issues relevant to the South Atlantic, including habitat and ecosystem plans, adjustments to spiny lobster management, golden tilefish assessments, and MRIP’s five-year strategic plan. The Council will also host a workshop discussing best practices for releasing fish. Seven speakers will present on recent studies, best techniques, and ways to move forward with decreasing discard mortality.
