Serving as Georgia's agency designee since March 2010, Doug Haymans works in the director's office at the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He is responsible for development of environmental policy and regulation, coordination of education and outreach, and special projects.
Mr. Haymans previously supervised the Constituent Services Program, activities of which included inshore fish habitat enhancement, offshore reef development, coastal boating and fishing access, and marine aquatic education. He served as the agency's liaison to the commercial and recreational fishing communities for nearly 10 years and was involved in several legislative initiatives. Prior to employment with the Coastal Resources Division, Mr. Haymans served as a fisheries biologist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for 10 years.
Mr. Haymans is a 1990 graduate of the University of Georgia, where he met his wife, Tonia. They reside in Brunswick with their daughter, Sarah, and son, Jacob. Mr. Haymans attends Northside Baptist Church where he is a deacon and Sunday school teacher. The Haymans family enjoys the outdoors, boating, biking, hiking, hunting and fishing when time permits.
