AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS

Mackerel Committee Meeting

  • Atlantic Cobia Management - The committee will review potential actions for CMP Framework Amendment 4 that may include changes to bag limits, vessel limits, minimum size limit, accountability measures, the start of the recreational fishing year, and a step-down for commercial harvest when commercial landings have reached a certain percentage of the commercial ACL. The Council is scheduled to approve the amendment for August 2016 public hearings.

Snapper Grouper Committee Meeting

  • Mutton Snapper Management - Review of Snapper Grouper Amendment 41 to revise biological parameters, catch levels, and management measures for mutton snapper. The Council is scheduled to approve the amendment for August 2016 public hearings.
  • Red Snapper Management - The committee will receive an update from NOAA Fisheries on 2015 removals of red snapper (relative to any 2016 season) and review future management options for red snapper to be addressed in Snapper Grouper Amendment 43.
  • Hogfish Management - Continued review of actions pertaining to hogfish management that will be addressed in Snapper Grouper Amendment 37.

Data Collection Committee Meeting

  • Electronic Reporting for Charter Vessels - The Atlantic For-Hire Reporting Amendment includes actions to require mandatory electronic reporting for charter (six-pack) vessels and modifies existing reporting requirements for headboats. The committee will discuss and modify the document as necessary. NOTE: The reporting requirements would affect vessels involved in the South Atlantic Snapper Grouper fishery, Dolphin Wahoo fishery, and Coastal Migratory Pelagic fishery along the Atlantic coast.  

Joint Dolphin Wahoo/ Snapper Grouper Committees:

  • Dolphin & Yellowtail Snapper Management - Review of Dolphin Wahoo Amendment 10/Snapper Grouper Amendment 44 that will address allocations for dolphinfish and yellowtail snapper.
