Final Rule to Modify Management of Vermilion Snapper and Red Porgy in the South Atlantic

(Rule becomes effective September 5, 2013)

NOAA Fisheries published a final rule to implement Regulatory Amendment 18 to the Snapper-Grouper Fishery Management Plan that will increase the commercial and recreational ACL for vermilion snapper; set a new commercial trip limit of 1,000 pounds (gw) for vermilion snaper with a step down to 500 pounds (gw) once 75% of the ACL has been reached; remove the recreational closed season for vermilion snapper harvest; and decrease the total ACL for red porgy.
