Tuesday, December 5 - 4:30 p.m. Public Input Session - a general input session for public input regarding issues within the South Atlantic Council's area of jurisdiction
NOTE: A public scoping meeting for gag grouper management originally scheduled for Monday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. has been cancelled. The Council will be addressing these issues during its June 2007 meeting.
Agenda Items Include:
Amendment 14 - Eight deepwater marine protected areas
Amendment 15 - Proposed actions include: Update management reference points for snowy grouper, golden tilefish, vermilion snapper, red porgy, and black sea bass stocks; modify rebuilding schedules for snowy grouper and black sea bass; define rebuilding strategies for snowy grouper, red porgy, and black sea bass stocks; address sale of recreationally caught snapper grouper species; reduce bycatch of deepwater species; implement a plan to monitor and assess bycatch in the snapper grouper fishery; measures to minimize impacts of incidental take on sea turtles and smalltooth sawfish; fishing year and trip limits options for the golden tilefish fishery; and permit issues (transferability and renewal times).
Limited Access Privilege Program (LAPP) - discussion of a potential LAPP program for the snapper grouper fishery.
Amendment 18 - Changes in Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for king mackerel and Spanish mackerel.
Amendment 19 - Scoping issues, including possible separation of the joint management plan currently between the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Councils. Also, boundary and permit options should a separation in management occur.
Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) and the FEP Comprehensive Amendment - status and update on the development of the FEP and the FEP Comprehensive Amendment.
