  • CMP Amendment 31 (Atlantic cobia)

Approval for Public Hearings:

  • Vision Blueprint Regulatory Amendment 26 (Recreational)
  • Vision Blueprint Regulatory Amendment 27 (Commercial)
  • Snapper Grouper Regulatory Amendment 28 (Golden Tilefish)

Some Additional Items:

  • Exempted Fishing Permit Request
  • E.O. 13771 (2 for 1 Regulations) to identify regulations that are (1) outdated, (2) unnecessary, or (3) ineffective.

February 26, 2018: 
Written comments (online and those submitted by mail/fax) received by close of business the Monday before the meeting (February 26) will be compiled, posted to the website as part of the meeting materials, and included in the administrative record.  Please use the online comment form to ensure your comments get distributed immediately to Council.

February 27 - March 8, 2018: 
Individuals that wish to submit comments after February 26 must use the Council's online comment form. Comments will automatically be posted to the website and available for Council consideration. Comments received prior to noon on Thursday of the Council meeting (3/8/18) will be a part of the meeting administrative record.

Citizen Science Committee:

  • The Council will review recommendations from the 5 Action Teams: Communication/Outreach/Education Action Team, Finance & Infrastructure Action Team, Data Management Action Team, Projects/Topics Management Action Team, and Volunteers Action Team.

Review of an Exempted Fishing Permit Request:

  • The Council has received an EFP request to conduct research and evaluate pelagic longline catch rates in a portion of the East Florida coast pelagic longline closed area.

Spiny Lobster Committee

  • The Council will review the scoping results of Spiny Lobster Amendment 13 (Bully Netting) and provide guidance to staff on how to move forward with the amendment.

Mackerel Cobia Committee:

  • The Council will discuss whether or not to approve CMP Amendment 31, which proposes possible management jurisdiction changes for Atlantic cobia (GA-NY).
  • The Council will also discuss CMP Framework Amendment 6, which could reevaluate commercial trip limits of king mackerel in the EEZ. Scoping of this issue will occur at the meeting.

Snapper Grouper Committee:

  • The Council will continue to discuss the Visioning Amendments (both recreational and commercial) and could potentially approve them for public hearings.
  • The Council will revisit Snapper Grouper Amendment 46, which outlines possible actions for private recreational reporting and permitting.
  • SG Regulatory Amendment 28, which proposes management changes for Golden Tilefish in the South Atlantic, will go before the Council and could also be approved for public hearings.
  • The Council will revisit Snapper Grouper Amendment 47 (For-Hire Moratorium of federal SG permits).
  • Dr. Kari MacLauchlin will give a presentation on the Socio-Economic profile of the South Atlantic snapper grouper commercial fishery.
