Snapper Grouper Amendment 15B - Modifications to the sales provision for snapper grouper species, allocation of snowy grouper and red porgy, permit renewal and transfer, measures to reduce effects of incidental catch  on smalltooth sawfish and sea turtles, and other provisions.

Snapper Grouper Committee

  1. Snapper Grouper Amendment 15B (modifications to the sales provision for snapper grouper, allocations, permit renewal and transfer, bycatch assessment/monitoring, etc.) - Review public hearing comments, modify as necessary, and approve for submission to the Secretary of Commerce for review and final approval.
  2. Snapper Grouper Amendment 16 - (measures to end overfishing for gag grouper and vermilion snapper) - approve document for public hearings.
  3. Snapper Grouper Amendment 17 (Annual Catch Limits, snowy grouper regulations, overage alternatives, etc.) - Review public scoping comments and provide options to be developed for amendment.

Joint Habitat/Ecosystem-based Management Committee
Review recommendations from the Habitat, Coral, Deepwater Shrimp, and Golden Crab Advisory Panels on the Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) and FEP Comprehensive Amendment - approve for public hearings.

Allocation Committee
Review public scoping comments on the Comprehensive Allocation Amendment and provide direction to staff for options to be included.

Concurrent Sessions and Other Notes  
The Law Enforcement Advisory Panel will meet on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 concurrently with the Snapper Grouper Committee. 

The Limited Access Privilege (LAP) Program Exploratory Workgroup will meet jointly for the first time with the LAP Program Committee to provide its recommendations regarding the development a LAP Program for the commercial snapper grouper fishery on Monday, March 3, 2008.

Joint LAP Program Committee and Workgroup
The LAP Program Workgroup will provide its final report to the Committee regarding recommendations for establishing a Limited Access Privilege Program for the commercial snapper grouper fishery.  The LAP Program Committee will then meet separately to discuss recommendations and provide a report for Council consideration.
