Snappy Grouper Amendment 51

Snapper Grouper Amendment 51

(Snowy Grouper Catch Level Adjustments & Allocations)

Purpose of Amendment: The South Atlantic stock of Snowy Grouper was reassessed in 2020 through SEDAR 36 Update which indicated that the stock is both overfished and undergoing overfishing. This assessment included landings data which incorporated the new MRIP FES methods. Because previous annual catch limits (ACL) and allocations were based on old methods, this amendment offers the Council the opportunity to update both the ACL and allocations based on these new methods.

Action Summary: The amendment has 5 proposed actions

  1. Modify the Snowy Grouper ACL
  2. Modify the Snowy Grouper sector allocations
  3. Modify commercial management measures
  4. Modify recreational management measures
  5. Modify recreational accountability measures
