2015 Activities - Visioning Project
What Has Happened to Date - Development of the Draft Vision Blueprint for the Snapper Grouper Fishery in 2015
Since December 2012, the Council has held visioning workshops at each quarterly Council meeting to develop a framework for carrying out the visioning project and collecting public input. The framework evolved into the development of four strategic focus areas of Science, Management, Communication, and Governance as the major focus areas to develop strategies and actions for management of the snapper grouper fishery. In the Spring of 2014, Council staff held 26 informal port meetings to talk with snapper grouper fishery stakeholders about their ideas on how the fishery should be managed in the future. Input from the port meetings along with ideas from the Council members themselves were compiled in the Draft Vision Blueprint with specific strategies and actions for Science, Management, Communication, and Governance.
