Meeting Briefing Materials

The Council will hold public hearings pertaining to Snapper Grouper Amendment 60 to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Snapper Grouper the South Atlantic region. This amendment addresses issues related to the commercial Snapper Grouper Unlimited (SG 1) permit, and aims to increase commercial trip efficiency.

The three in-person hearings will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

  • August 10 – NC Division of Marine Fisheries Central District Office, Morehead City, NC
  • August 11 – Brunswick County Administrative Building, Bolivia, NC
  • August 19 – Heckscher Drive Community Club, Jacksonville, FL

A webinar hearing will also be held on August 31 at 6:00 p.m.

Written comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on September 1. Input from the hearings will be summarized and presented at the September Council meeting. Members of the public can also submit comments on the amendment at the September 2026 Council meeting during the public comment period scheduled for September 16 at 4 pm.
