Members of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council will hold their next meeting March 4-8, 2024 on Jekyll Island, Georgia. The meeting will be held at the Villas by the Sea Resort and is open to the public. The meeting will also be available via webinar as it occurs.
The Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC) will meet on Friday, February 9th from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. via webinar.
The Council’s Law Enforcement Advisory Panel will meet in person to cover a broad range of topics, including a discussion of the sale of tournament-caught King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel, as well as compliance updates on for-hire electronic reporting, use of descending devices, and marine protected areas and spawning special management zones.
The Council’s Seminar Series continues in 2024 with a presentation on wind energy development in the South Atlantic region.

Members of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council concluded their week-long meeting in Beaufort, North Carolina after addressing a broad range of federal fisheries management issues. Janet Coit, Assistant Administrator for NOAA Fisheries attended a portion of the meeting and addressed the Council. She recognized the Council’s and NOAA Fisheries’ regional efforts in supporting management and science, including the Council’s Citizen Science Program, and highlighted national fisheries issues.

Meetings of the Council’s advisory panels continue next week with the Dolphin Wahoo Advisory Panel (AP) meeting Monday, November 6th beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a meeting of the Mackerel Cobia AP beginning Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. and running through Wednesday. The meetings will be held at the Town and Country Inn, 2008 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407.
